As a mother of 2, with a full-time out of home job, the last thing I find I make time for is me. However, the more I try and take care of myself, the better I feel. And of course the better I feel, the better everyone else feels, because let's face it - IF MOM'S HAPPY, THE FAMILY IS HAPPY!
That being said, I don't have an hour to sit and pamper myself every morning or night, so here are a few things I do and use to get the job done, as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Now, I know many of us have the mentality that a clean face is a healthy face, so we wash, and wash, and wash. Well, I don't anymore. I find that washing my face once at night is sufficient for me. I don't wash my face in the morning, so that helps cut down my time and gets me out of the house much quicker. All I do in the morning is blot my skin with a tissue and then add a little moisturizer.
Well, I’m a skincare junkie, so even if I like something, I can’t help but find something else that’s been released, and have to try it. So I use all types of products, depending on what I'm feeling for that week. As of right now, I find myself switching between 2 different lines.
One is Dove Face Cloths. It lathers great, and I find it exfoliates pretty well. It's also good for removing my face and eye makeup. Who doesn't like one item that does it all? And for $6.49, it can't be beat!

The other item I really like is a two step program from Erno Laszlo. This can be used on both normal to dry as well as normal to oily skin. I use a small amount of the Active pHelityl Oil to help break up the dirt and oil in the face. I then use the Sea Mud Soap which is excellent for exfoliating and deeply cleans without drying out the skin. The soap is supposed to be used a special way. Fill up your sink with hot water – not hot enough to scald you, but as hot as you can take it. This offers a way to open up your pores. Use the bar directly on your face, and then while you rinse, use the water from the basin. Rinse 20 times. Yes, 20. As you rinse, the vitamins and minerals in the soap are being mixed with the water in the basin; therefore, as you rinse, your adding more of the good stuff back on to your skin. Then empty the sink, and run the cold water – rinse 10 times. You’ll love how clean your face feels - literally “squeaky clean” without the tightness. It is a bit expensive as the oil and soap cost $39 each, but it definitely lasts a long time. Especially the soap! I’ve been using it for over a year, and there’s barely a dent in it.
I then use a moisturizer. I can’t stress how important it is to moisturize. I use Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion suitable for all skin types.
Lastly, I use an eye cream. As we age, we can’t help but see those tiny little crow’s feet make their way to that little corner of our eyes. I like Shiseido Benefiance Concentrated Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream. I find the fine lines in the corners of my eyes have faded. It’s a nice thick cream, which absorbs easily and quickly. I keep it in the refrigerator, which offers a nice coolness when I put it on.

Now, I know that might seem like a lot, but it really isn’t. And nothing feels better than a smooth clean face once it’s all done. No tightness, no dryness.
I hope this helps some of you out. Thanks for reading, and I can’t wait to post my next article!
